Rhythm of Togetherness
As part of the “Rhythm of Togetherness” project, a dance workshop and a mural painting workshop were organized with young people from Stolac, under the mentorship of young professional artists.
The project contributed to the development of a creative and educational platform that fosters intergenerational and intercultural cooperation, while promoting the values of togetherness, exchange, and contemporary artistic expression.
The participants were actively involved in all phases of the project – from the research stage, through the development of performing techniques, to the final performance.
The location of the project’s implementation is particularly significant – the city of Stolac where even thirty years after the end of the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, deep social divisions continue to shape everyday life. One of the most evident examples of institutionalized segregation is the fact that the primary school still operates under the principle of “two schools under one roof.” This model not only physically separates children but also denies them the opportunity to learn, socialize, and grow up together, thereby systematically maintaining and deepening interethnic barriers.
“Rhythm of Togetherness” supported young professional artists through the production of artistic works and performances, while participants had the chance to gain informal education in the fields of performing and visual arts, as well as opportunities for socializing and teamwork.
After the workshops were completed, a public dance performance was held, and a mural depicting motifs of the town of Stolac was completed in the schoolyard.
Supported by the Rockefeller Brothers Fund and the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sport.
Hvala građankama i građanima Stoca.
Our thanks go to the citizens of Stolac.
